For Earth Day, the Spring Glen Civic Association has invited WCA to partner with them and take part in a clean up of our two neighborhoods. It will be held over three days (April 24, 25 and 26) and a prize drawing is planned for those who participate.
Details on how to enter the drawing can be found at the Spring Glen Civic Association website: https://www.springlencivic.org.
As part of this effort, members of the WCA Board will lead a cleanup of the commercial area and Putnam Ave. on Sunday, April 26 th from 2-4 pm. Join us then if you can. We will meet in the parking lot behind the BOE at 60 Putnam Ave. Garbage bags will be provided but please bring your own garden gloves, rakes and whatever else you might need. You can also round up neighbors and/or members of community groups you belong to in order to volunteer on any of the three days.
Here are some suggested areas to cover for each day:
Friday, April 24th : Your own neighborhoods!
Saturday, April 25th: Leeder Hill Rd. and Waite St. area, as well as Mather and Treadwell, especially closer to Dixwell Ave.
Sunday, April 26th: Whitneyville commercial area and Putnam Ave. Also the Girl Scouts are going to clean up DeNicola park on this day! WCA thanks the Girl Scouts!
We have received permission to throw our garbage bags in the dumpster behind BOE (there are two, one for recyclables and one for garbage and please no hazardous waste!) or you can take your bags home and dispose in your own bin.
We hope you can all participate in making our neighborhood more beautiful!
